All-Region Band & All-State Jazz Clinic

The University of Arkansas Department of Music is pleased to offer All-Region Preparation Clinics for wind and percussion instrumentalists, and All-State Preparation Clinics for jazz musicians in grades 7 through 12. This is a priority event to improve audition technique for instrumental students auditioning for Arkansas All-Region and All-State bands. Junior and senior high students will be provided the opportunity to work with our faculty and students to gain expert instruction on improving audition etudes and scales.

This event is free, but registration is required.

What to Bring

  • Your instrument, reeds, mutes, sticks, mallets, etc. as needed (Note to percussionists: Percussion instruments provided, though you may wish to bring your own snare drum)
  • A copy of your audition music with the measures numbered
  • A pencil
  • Notebook or other note-taking gear

Note to Teachers & Parents

The Arkansas Union, next door to the clinic site, will be open Saturday. You’ll have time to check out the new lounge area, grab a pastry and coffee at Au Bon Pain (opens at 9am), and/or visit the Razorback Shop (just up Garland Street; opens at 10am), while you wait for your students to complete the clinic.

Students will be dismissed to the Fine Arts Courtyard area, between the Music and Fine Arts buildings. You may pick up your students there. Here’s a map of the area around the event:
