Biography

Hornist Katey J. Jahnke’s vibrant personality and passion for music inspire both as a teacher and performer. Her career over the last decade has been highlighted by numerous unique and engaging musical experiences. As a performer she has been a featured soloist at numerous festivals and conferences, many of whom have focused on representation of women in music such as the International Women’s Brass Conference and the Women Composer’s Festival at Hartford. As a chamber musician, she has been a member of the nonprofit organization, the Wild Prairie Winds, for the last four years working towards goals such as prairie conservation awareness and accessible music education. Her love for music continues year round as she spends her summers teaching at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in Twin Lake, Michigan performing with Blue Lake’s faculty wind and brass quintets as well as the Festival Chamber Orchestra. Now as a resident of Northwest Arkansas she is the Visiting Assistant Professor of Horn at the University of Arkansas and the horn player of both the Lyrique Quintette and Arkansas Brassworks.
